Four years ago, I came home from a whirlwind, life-changing trip to India. I witnessed families living in trash huts. Little clean water. No bathrooms. Girls were being raped when bathing in local water sources or using the bathroom. But there were no bathrooms. I was there on behalf of @thecocacolaco, who was implementing change in these areas, especially for young girls and women. For the purest of human rights.
I didn’t come home the same person. I will never be the same person. I will never look at my privilege the same, and I especially will not support the mistreatment of women in my own country, which is unnecessarily behind on female protection.
I hope that I can be a tiny part of teaching what that means without judgment or blame, while I also teach myself how to be treated.
